“AAHCI members from Latin America, the U.S., Australia, and the Netherlands gathered recently at a meeting hosted by the AAHCI Regional Office at the University of Sao Paulo in Sao Paulo, Brazil, to discuss Research in the Academic Health Center, and the role of Latin America. Participants learned about the unique Brazilian health system, where health became a constitutionally recognized human right in 1988. Engaging discussions also were held on enhancing alignment between universities and hospitals, increasing research opportunities within academic health centers, unique partnership models, and innovation in health and social care. Please visit the AAHC meeting website to view the presentations. As with other AAHC international meetings, a number of collaborative global opportunities presented themselves throughout the sessions in Brazil and in the numerous informal networking opportunities. AAHCI continues to work toward promotion of international opportunities for its members with resources such as the Global Programs NetworkInternational Collaborations DatabaseRegional Offices, and other AAHC and AAHCI programming.” - Steven L.
