The XXXVII University Medical Congress (COMU), organized by students of the Scientific Department of FMUSP, has brought on September 28th to 30th, the experiences of renowned professionals involved with research and teaching. The congress gathered students and researchers from around the country for this experience interchange in areas such as medicine, nursing, physiotherapy, pharmacy, psychology, obstetrics, physical education, biomedicine and biological sciences.
“As doctors, we are honored with the recognition of the patient; as professors, nothing can bring more happiness than the recognition of the students. It’s an honor and a delight to preside the COMU. When you chose me, you also chose the respect for the rights of human beings, the path to equality and the certainty of the patient centered care”, says the president of honor of COMU, Prof. Dr. Linamara Rizzo Battistella, titular professor of FMUSP and Secretary of State for the Rights of the Disable People of São Paulo.
“This year, we had more than 40 submitted works for the congress, not only from FMUSP, but also from other medical schools, such as Unicamp, the Santa Casa, UFMG, and UFU. I hope we can increasingly receive this variety of scientific production, in a moment where the country is having difficulty maintaining its research areas. We need to keep encouraging the involvement of students with research”, says Guilherme Tetsuo Yokoy Namakura, from the 104th class, scientific president of the XXXVII COMU.
The ceremony counted on the presence of the FMUSP director, Prof. Jose Otavio Costa Auler Jr., besides Prof. Dr. Marta Imamura, also an honorary president of the scientific prizes of COMU, and Thaís Matos Guedes, student of the 104th class and president of the XXXVII COMU.
