The Medical School of the Universidade de São Paulo (FMUSP) has held a ceremony to celebrate the 75 years of existence of the Hospital das Clínicas (HC), on November 25^th, at the FMUSP Theater. A video telling the story of the largest hospital complex in Latin America and a commemorative logo were exhibited. Followed to that, the members of the honoring table have spoken an, at the end of the ceremony, all were invited for the opening of the exhibit “HCFMUSP 75 years of excellency”, at the first floor hall of the Main Building.

Prof. Antonio Carlos Hernandes, Vice Dean of the Universidade de São Paulo (USP), has highlighted the importance of the university and has said: “to commemorate 75 years of a hospital such as this one, which has the Medical School of USP as a reference, is essential for the population to know the work a public institution does, in innovation, entrepreneurship and training people”.

“Our responsibility is to try and maintain this patrimony built by great names of Brazilian medicine, who are entangled with the history of HC and FMUSP. We must take good care to keep the pioneering spirit and the quality of teaching and assistance we have”, declared Prof. Tarcisio Eloy Pessoa de Barros Filho, Director of FMUSP and President of the HCFMUSP Deliberative Board.

Prof. Eloisa Silva Dutra de Oliveira Bonfá, Clinical Director of HCFMUSP, remembered about the beginning of the HC creation project, a hospital-school connected to the Medical School of USP, which has grown, “it has achieved excellency and, in the last years, by approaching the concept of management in assistance and the work developed by its collaborators, has overcome every crisis. The innovation has also been collaborating for the possibility of evolving and looking forward”.

The honor table was also composed by the Engineer Antonio José Rodrigues Pereira, the HCFMUSP Superintendent, Prof. Flavio Fava de Moraes, Director of the Foundation Faculty of Medicine, and Prof. Aluisio Augusto Cotrim Segurdo, President of the Board of Directors of the Central Institute of HCFMUSP and President of the International Relations Committee of FMUSP.

Prof. Aluisio Segurado congratulated the professors, students, partners and professionals who act in the FMUSP-HC System and declared: “we hope to proceed with our vision and cultivate the structuring values of our university, such as excellency, scientific criteria, scientific and pedagogic integrity, creativity and plurality”. He complemented: “congratulation to HCFMUSP, may many more years come with success!”.

The exhibit “HCFMUSP 75 years of excellency” remained open until November 28^th. As of November 29^th it will be exhibited in the entry hall of the HCFMUSP Central Institute. The curating was done by Prof. Auisio Cotrim Segurado, Clebison Nascimento dos Santos, Gustavo Querodia Tarelow and Prof. André Mota.
