The wake took place on March 14, 2023, at Funeral Home, Bela Vista - São Paulo.

Graduated in Medicine at São Paulo in 1959, Prof. Erney Plessmann de Camargo had a doctorate and full professor at USP. He was Instructor at the University of Wisconsin, USA, and Chercheur Associé at the Pasteur Institute in Paris.

He was a Full Professor at UNIFESP (Escola Paulista de Medicina) and at Universidade de São Paulo. He served as Pro-Rector of Research at USP, during the rectoral terms of José Goldemberg and Roberto Leal Lobo e Silva Filho, and as president of the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), from 2003 to 2007. He was Director of the Instituto Butantan and President of CTNBIO.

Prof. Doctor Erney Plessmann de Camargo was a member of the Superior Council of FioCruz, of the Superior Council of CAPES, of the Antonio Prudente Foundation and of the Butantan Institute and of the CNPq. He was Doctor Honoris Causa of the Universidad Nacional de Inginiería in Peru.

The doctor and scientist was a member of the Academy of Sciences of the State of São Paulo, the Brazilian Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Medicine, the Academy of Sciences of the Third World (TWAS) and the Linnean Society of London.
