The first of the Public Health Network of the State of São Paulo
The SEAP – Service of Extension to the Attendance of HIV/AIDS Patient – House of Aids, subordinated to the Division of Infectious Diseases and Parasitic Diseases of the Hospital das Clínicas of FMUSP, inaugurates the Laboratory of Physical Activity and it incorporates, in an innovative manner, the practice of sports in the proposal of integral care to the patient with HIV to minimize the effects of the diseases associated with chronic aids and of the use of antiretroviral medicines, with the betterment of the life quality and the adhesion to treatment.
The space, the first of the public health network of the State of São Paulo aimed at people living with HIV, will benefit over 3 thousand patients in a follow-up at the service. The activities will be directed at the prevention and management of the comorbities which can impact negatively on the quality of life, such as metabolic disorders, cardiovascular diseases and depression.
The patients will exercise in bodybuilding equipment, treadmills and ergonometric bicycles, under the supervision of physical educators, associated with the SEAP. There will be offered aerobic trainings of strength, flexibility and functionality. They will be daily, in groups or individually when necessary.
According to Titular Professor of the Discipline of Infectious and Parasitic Diseases of FMUSP and director of the Division of Infectious Diseases of HC, Aluisio Segurado, the Laboratory of Physical Activities will also work as a research center for the production of applicable results in the daily life of the adult patient who lives with HIV, which could contribute to the standardizing of the Public Health network treatment, with the prescribing of essential exercises to guarantee the quality of life of the patient and the adhesion to the antiretroviral treatment.
The services of suitability of the physical space and facilities of the laboratory counted on the resources of 220 thousand reais from the Government of the State of São Paulo, by the formed agreement with the State Secretary of Health and the HCFMSUP. The equipment was obtained by donations from Fapesp – São Paulo Research Foundation, resulting from scientific investigation conducted by the Division of Infectious Diseases and financed by the agency.
The Extension Service of Extension to the Attendance of HIV/AIDS Patient – the House of Aids works at the West Zone of São Paulo, at Rua Ferreira de Araújo, 789 (building annexed to the Health Center of Pinheiros). The patient attendance takes place from Monday to Friday, from 8h to 20h. The integral care is held by a multiprofessional and interdisciplinary team, composed of infectologist doctors, psychiatrists, gynecologists, nurses, dentists, psychologists, social assistants, nutritionists, pharmacists and physical educators.
The event occurred in the morning of May 7th, and counted on the participation of: Prof. Paulo Menezes, coordinator of Disease Control of the State Secretary of Health, representing the Secretary of Health of the State of São Paulo, Prof. Henrique German Ferreira; Prof. Aluisio Augusto Segurado, president of the Condir-ICHC, representing Prof. Tarcisio Eloyde Barros Filho, director of the FMUSP and president of the Deliberative Board of the HC; Prof. Telesforo Bacchella, director of the Service of Bile Duct and Pancreas Surgery from the Division of Digestive System Surgery of HC, representing the Clinical Director of the HC, Prof. Eloisa Bofá; Dr. Massayuki Yamamoto, superintendence assessor, representing the HC superintendent, Antonio José Rodrigues Pereira; the executive director of the ICHC, Dr. Lucila Pedroso and other authorities in the health sector.
