The graduation of the 101st class of the Medical School of USP took place on November 21st, in a ceremony at the great auditorium in the Rebouças Convention Center. The granting of the medical degree to the 155 graduates was held by the director of FMUSP, Prof. Tarcisio Eloy Pessoa de Barros Filho.

Besides the director, the solemnity table was composed by Prof. Edmundo Chada Baracat, provost of Graduation of USP who occupied the presidency of the Graduation Commission of FMUSP from 2011 to 2018, and Nara Catarina Neto Silva, administrative head of the Graduation Services of FMUSP.

Prof. Tarcisio and Prof. Baracat reminded the graduates about the social and moral responsibilities of a professional formed in a public and free university such as USP. “The USP tradition is to form quality professionals with excellency. We have the duty to return with good assistance to the population who finance us”, said the director.

The student Renato Pignatari read the medical oath, followed by the choir of the graduates. According the ceremony protocol, each student is nominally called to sign the graduation term, by putting the right hand over a volume of the Hippocrates’ book, after wearing a ring which belonged to Doctor Arnaldo Vieira de Carvalho, founder of FMUSP. At the opening, the choir of the Cancer Institute of the State of São Paulo (ICESP) performed the National Anthem.
