Prof. Sérgio Carlos Nahas took office as a Titular Professor of the Coloproctology Discipline of the Gastroenterology Department at Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo, on August 4th, 2020, at the Board of Directors at FMUSP. 

The Professor was approved in a public content, held on August 6th, 2019. The professor is postgraduate in coloproctology at St. Marks Hospital and Academic Institute of London (1990), Associate Professor of the Coloproctology Discipline at FMUSP (2000), Doctor in Medicine (Surgery of the Digestive System) at FMUSP (1991), Master in General Surgery and Emergency Surgery at FMUSP (1986), Undergraduated in Medicine at University of Mogi das Cruzes (1973).

In 2017, he received the Society's highest title, Honorary Fellow, from The American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons ASCRS, Illinois USA. He has been director of the Colon and Rectum Surgery Service at Hospital das Clínicas (HC) of FMUSP since 2008, linked to the Surgery Disciplines of the Digestive System and Coloproctology. Since 2008, he has been coordinator of oncological surgery, surgical treatment of colon, rectal and anus cancer - at ICESP and Director of the Medical Residency Service of the Coloproctology Discipline at FMUSP.
