Professors of the Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo (FMUSP) and physicians of the Hospital das Clínicas of FMUSP are part of a world ranking of leading scientists, gathering in a database published by a study in the journal PLOS Biology. In total, 600 Brazilians were recognized in the paper entitled “Updated science-wide author databases of standardized citation indicators”, conducted by a group of Stanford University (USA) and released on October 16, 2020.
The tabulated data includes all scientists who are among the top 100,000 in all fields, according to the composite citation index. Furthermore, in the current version, the top 2% best scientists in their main subfield discipline were included, among which they published at least five articles. To achieve this, it was analyzed the number of times that a paper is cited or that it interfere in other people's studies, listed in databases such as Web of Science and Scopus. The result is presented in two rankings: the impact of the research during his career and the performance in 2019.
Appering on this listo f the most influetial reserchers in the world is a relevant recognition of the high quality of scientific production and the excellence of scientists of the Faculdade de Medicina da Unviersidade de São Paulo and Hospital das Clínicas, reinforcing the institutional values of pioneering and excellence.
